BRITISH PASSPORT APPLICATION FOR A LOST ONE

Post by noidea1 » Sat Apr 25, 2015 9:51 pm

Hi,

This is a about an already submitted application to the passport office in London for the 1 week service.

So, on the 27th of February 2015, I had visited the London Victoria passport office to replace a lost passport. Before submitting the application I had called the advice-line to ask about what documents i need to take with me and as it was lost and was going to swap my middle name around with my first name, i thought i might as well do it in one go and therefore would cut the time i am without a document and also less fees altogether.

On submitting day, i submitted the LS01 (lost form), copy of the passport that was lost, name change deed and of course the application form and photos - and was told my passport would sent to my home address within the 1 week period.

Having 10 days been passed, i called the advice-line for updates on countless amount of times and every time they get the office to call me, no one seems to bother to call.

Finally after 3 weeks of submitting the application, i finally got a letter stating, they had done some checks and have found that HMRC haven't been updated with my new name and once this has been done they will issue me my new passport. I then called HMRC and got everything updated which the passport office confirmed.
After a few days i got another letter saying i must update DVLA and then they will issue me my passport but luckily this letter had a direct number to call the victoria office.
I called them saying "i do no wish to sound rude but wheres the logic in updating DVLA when you haven't returned my deed poll to me" to which she said okay i will return it to you. But luckily, i had a second deed poll anyway i had sent this to DVLA the same day i went to submit this application.
DVLA somehow still took ridiculous 4 weeks to update and receive my licence. First the passport office person said he'll accept a DVLA letterhead letter in my new name and it will be done but then they all turn and said they'll wait for the licence and won't do the electronic check instead. So when the licence came, i took it into their office hoping it was all finished but all got worse, the clerk said they'll call you in a bit, which to no surprise to me, they didn't. After me calling a further 5 times someone finally picked up and said the licence is fine but we now want to do further checks.
These so called checks haven't been done since 2 weeks of me providing and proving my name being changed for all intent.
Everytime i call that office they are so abrupt and rude and make me sound like the bad person, don't tell me what checks. just say wait and won't even tell me how long. But on Friday 24th a lady said they're done in date order, how can it apparently be date order if its been 8 weeks on monday.
If checks weren't done in the first place you wouldn't have told me to change my name in DVLA and HMRC.

Also i wanted my deed poll back from them 10 days ago and was told to send a letter requesting this, which i done straight away...called on Monday and was told no letter yet. Yesterday on Friday 24th she said we got some letter on the 20th and someone will call.. Why haven't i been called?

I seriously think they have issues in this office and no-one is looking at my case and want to take some sort of action via my local MP or something...also how do they expect me to prove my right to work in the UK...Plus i need it for student finance.

i am sorry i have written so much and thanks in advance.

Do not worry! You are not alone

I submitted my application straight after my ceremony on 26th February. On 5th March I got a letter asking new photo. On the same day I ran to a photo booth and sent them back
days were gone without any news. Finally on 13th of March got a letter. They asked me to make an appointment for the interview. It was on 20th March. I did ask if everything was ok. They said everything was fine.
On 26th I got a letter asking me a new photo. Again. I also ran and took it and sent it back the dame day. Then waited.
6 days later I called them what was going on. They told me they sent a letter to me as I needed to fill in a mew form with a new referee. But when the letter arrived it said a new form but only to fill in section 1,2&9 and no referee. Called them what to do. The advisor said to fill in a new form with a referee but I have written a letter to them saying I have done what they asked. So I sent back a form without a new referee and waited. I had thought they would send me a letter asking to fill in another form but a week later I got a text saying they had received my application-what anyway they were supposed to send it on 27th February- and 3 days later another text saying my passport was being printed. 2 hours later the passport was with me

They have no idea what they are doing seriously. If you call them they don't know what to say
This is my case with HMPO but there was a problem with both of my boys' passports. They didn't want to accept their referees but finally they had. We even had received a letter stating they had not accepted the referee for my younger one last year. It was our GP. But on the same day I received a text saying the passport was being printed. So it's crazy.

They are really a bunch of morons to say the least. Its not fair for people who need to travel when they haven't done what they promise to do...they don't even communicate with me by even sending any letters, i have to call to find out whats happening which is absolutely ridiculous and yes if you want to do checks do them and get a move on, I'm not applying for a visa, we are citizens hurry up and look after your own people. Obviously, so many people are leaving this country already because there simply isn't any scope left.

Luckily I did not need the passport but still...Some people got it within 10 days some in months? Why?
I have called them thousand times, asking the status of my case on line. I had always thought of my passport. Days and night.

Oh I even forgot to mention they had sent back my passport and Nat . certificate via Royal Mail 2nd class despite of secure delivery. I did ask secure delivery however they had not taken the money for that despite of I did write this down on the form and when I complained about this they had sent me a letter to shut my mouth as I had not paid for it. Can you imagine what would happened if they had lost my home country passport? I do not even want to think about that

In overall they had caused so much stress and I had regretted for applying for it. Not to mention it cost nearly double what I expected
But finally it's done so I have moved on but my husband has applied for naturalisation as well so if he gets it then another torture starts....
