Certification of spouse's passport for Naturalisation

Hello
I will be applying at the end of June for Naturalisation on the basis that I will be free from Immigration time restrictions, married to a British citizen and meet the residence requirements. I understand that I need to provide my spouse's passport. He has to travel a lot for work and will not be present in the UK at the time I make the application.

I have two questions in relation to this:
1) Can anyone forsee a problem with me having a certified copy of his full passport made now but using it in two months time for the application?
2) Who can actually do the certification such that the powers that be will be satisfied? Is the Post Office documentation checking service acceptable?

I know about the NCS but as my husband will not be here at the time I apply, even if I use their service i will be presenting a copy of his passport. Hence the need to find out about having the document certified.

1. No problem in my view.
Page 19 tells you can simply copy the passport and send:

APPLICATIONS MADE ON THE BASIS OF MARRIAGE OR CIVIL PARTNERSHIP TO A BRITISH CITIZEN


Evidence of British citizenship:
• Your spouse’s or civil partner’s current passport or naturalisation/registration certificate showing that he/she is a British citizen. If you are making your application by post you can send a complete and full copy of your spouse’s or civil partner’s current passport. Every page of the passport must be copied including any blank pages

AND

• The marriage certificate or civil partnership certificate.

Personally in light of this guidance I don't think even certification is necessary. But I'd await further replies. Good luck.
