Italian Citizenship (Father not on Birth Certificate).

Post by verykiwi » Mon Apr 27, 2015 12:41 pm

Hi all, was hoping someone could help me.

So I was born and bred in New Zealand to a Kiwi mother and an Italian father, however due to certain circumstances, my father refused to sign the birth certificate and leave when I was only weeks old - avoiding responsibility of me.

I have always pondered the idea of having a dual citizenship, that being Kiwi & Italian. My father, his parents (my grandparents) and their parents before that were all born and raised in Italy. However, I'm sure not having him on my birth certificate is a blunder.

To be honest, we are not on great grounds and I don't speak to him for personal reasons which for the foreseeable future will not change.

Is there really any hope, any other strings to be pulled? DNA testing of some kind?! I know it's stretching but to pass and opportunity like this really sucks, especially being aware of the Italian Naturalization laws.

Please let me know if you are aware of anyway I could achieve a positive outcome.

Much appreciated.
