urgent advice please

HI..
Please I was advised to take my post down this forum..
As am currently looking on how to join my wife and kids in UK..
I hold an irish residence stamp 4..
But my wife is a British national. And my kids are irish citizens..
I do not no which will be more ok to go with cose from wat i read she most have worked or be self employed here in ireland before moving back to the uk in order to qualify under surinder Singh case
Which she never did due to health reasons
My query is should I apply for the family permit.. Or just go for family visa?
And if visa.. will it be possible applying for stay on getting there with family visit visa?..

Or if any other way can some one please help as I don't want to miss my little girl fist birthday which is just around the conner ..

Any advise will be much appreciated.
