Nigerian schengen visa british wife

Hi, would really appreciate any early replies to my problem please....
My son in law is nigerian, he is married to my daughter who is uk citizen, they have a 10 month old daughter and all live her in uk. He is a teacher. He has a british visa with leave to remain/ spouse-partner. We have booked over a year ago a mini cruise to celebrate our 30th anniversary. We were informed by 'someone' that son in law won't need visa. Now with just a week yo go til departure (next Sunday) he's been told that he will require one! He has an app with the belgium visa app centre in london on tues but they say that it will take up to 7 working days to process which we havnt got. We are only going yo be in zeebrugge in belgium for a few hours. Can anyone please give any advise on what we can do so that he can still come. My daughter is devastated as this was to be their first hol together as their busy saving for their own home

Why you did not confirm that question accurately from one year . who given you that information he won't need visa

Which port is the ship leaving from? Is the worst case that he would have to spend the entire trip on the ship or that he cannot get to the ship?

Isn't it. It will only apply if the visa/leave is issued under EU framework but how can it apply where the visa is issued under UK domestic rules as in OP case where he/she has UK spouse visa.

You don't seem to have read the link? He will be allowed entry regardless of the fact that his residence was issued under domestic rules, as long they travel together with his passport and marriage certificate they would be fine.

It is p&o cruise ship which is british and were leaving from southampton. It is only for 4 nights and is going to zeebrugge and guernsey.
