Tier 2 - healthcare surcharge question, contract start date

Post by am87 » Thu May 21, 2015 8:39 pm

Hey everyone,

I'm on a Tier 2 (General) visa at the moment which is going to expire end of July 2015 so I need to apply for extension soon. I'm going to continue working for the same employer. I'm working through the application and i've noticed that theres a new healthcare surcharge that needs to be paid before the application can be made.

I have a question about something that's required in the form before the payment can be made.

So basically I went to https://www.immigration-health-surcharg ... ecker/type to check how much I had to pay.

I have 1 dependent, which is my wife, and we'll be applying together, so I picked the 2nd option i.e "Coming to the UK with dependants" and then I selected 1.

On the next page I have filled in all details until I got to the following questions:

What is your contract start date?
What is your contract end date?

I'm a little confused about what "contract date" means exactly. I'm sort of on a rolling contract i.e it renews itself periodically. I started working for my employer in 2011. So is the contract start date going to be the date when I initially signed my contract in 2011? Or is this some other date?

I'm really worried about that, any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thankyou!

Put the dates on the COS validity as start and end date.

Tier 2 visa is supposed to be for a fixed duration thereby your employer is technically supposed to hire you for a fixed term even if your employment is considered of a permanent nature.

Thankyou for the reply!

I had a look at my COS recently on my employers SMS. I couldnt see any start end date, only my passport start and end dates.
