dont know where to start

Post by sue67 » Sat May 30, 2015 5:43 am

Hi All,

My eldest son is a British. he is 16 year sold (grade eight). his father passed away 16 years ago. we are in Malaysia. My son never reside in UK nor do I. I have 2 other children from second marriage. I want to send my son to complete his GCSE/study in UK. But I have no one to leave him with in UK . What visa should I apply for me and my other 2 children if we were to live with my eldest son in UK. is it better to apply from outside UK or apply within UK? Anyone in a similar situation and managed to secure something? I just hope to be with my son, while he learning to live in UK (at least until he mature enough). :(
Thank you for the feed back

If he is 16, he would generally be sitting his GCSE exams NOW! Like literally, they are in the next few weeks. They generally take two years to prepare for... He an take GCSEs while abroad (these are generally called iGCSEs).

About visas, you cannot apply from within the UK from a visitor visa to any other visa. Others will be along shortly to advise in more detail. I think it will be unlikely for you to be able to do what you want to do as he is not already settled here.

Thank You physicskate . I know he is late. In Malaysia he is attending private British syllabus school. so he is a bit older for that grade. :(
