Time to share my story now

This forum helped me a lot and I'm glad I can give something back.
Route: Tier 1 G (3+2)
Initial Application: March 2010 (in-country switch)
Extension: March 2013 (same-day service at Croydon)
ILR application submitted on 03.03.2015 (postal)
Confirmation letter received on 10.03.2015
Biometric invitation letter received on 20.03.2015 (done on the same day)
Passport returned on 02.06.2015 (approval letter dated on 01.06.2015)
BRP received on 03.06.2015
total time: 3 months exactly
Documents in my application (full time company director):
A. Essential
-passports (old & new)
-BRP card
-police registration card
-two photos
-postal orders for application fee
-application form
-life in the UK certificate
B. Supportive
-payslips
-dividend vouchers
-personal bank statements
-business bank statements
-letter on absences (210 days in 5 years; self explaining that I was on holidays; no business-related evidence)
C. Additional (not required by the guidance and I kept them to minimum)
-incorporation certificate
-HMRC letter showing company UTR (scanned version from my accountant)
-company accounts
D. Photocopies
for all original documents (all documents above except application forms, postal orders, photos and absence letter)
That's all. Keep it simple and straightforward, otherwise the case worker could only get confused.
A few side notes:
- evidence for language ability: degree taught in English (the evidence was submitted in my T1 initial application and I submitted nothing this time)
-absence: around 40 days every year, therefore no complications
-why postal order? It's costly. Postal orders are fast and (almost) absolutely problem-free (they are as liquid as cash)
-each month after I enrolled the biometrics, I received automatic emails from Home Office reassuring me that my case 'is under consideration'. Luckily I don't need to get more than 2 emails.
-I put a self-addressed Special Delivery envelope with my application and home office was clever enough to use it (heard some stories that they didn't use the envelope from applicants and the returned documents were impossible to track)
Good luck to everyone and hope you will get your ILR approved soon.
