Help needed on Tier 2 dependent and ILR

Post by Alys » Wed Jun 03, 2015 1:26 pm

Hello everyone,
I need some help. Please pardon me if this is the wrong thread to post my query.

My status: I am on tier 2 now (until March 2016 when I will complete 5 years on this route) and eligible to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain through Long Residency in December this year.

Situation: My fiancée has been in the UK on student visa for last 6 years and his visa is expiring in November. He cannot extend on student visa anymore. So, that leaves us with the option to get married ASAP and make him my dependent. I have been told by solicitors that we need to apply for marriage permission which takes 28 to 70 days.

My questions:
a) Will making him my dependent cause any problem for my Long Residency application in December?
b) I got engaged only few months ago through family, so I won’t have a lot of evidence to show subsisting relationship – will this be a problem to obtain the marriage permission/ make him tier 2 dependant?
c) Do we need to get the Islamic nikah done first to apply for marriage permission (I know this is not relevant to this board but just hoping if anyone has had the experience of obtaining a marriage certificate who can suggest!) ?

Thanks a lot for your time and help.

b , make the appointment and gather the evidence, like chats, meeting etc.
c its your own choice, would'nt impact. all u need is to register the wedding and then apply for dependent visa.
