marriage to poor self-employed Brit

Post by TracyMagd » Tue Oct 09, 2007 6:07 pm

I am a Canadian currently on a work permit. I have no problems getting jobs here, the profession I'm in is crying out for trained individuals. My boyfriend, whom I am currently living with, wants to get married. (We've been together 18 mths) but he's on a low (irregular) income as he's an artist. Has anyone out there been granted a 'certificate of approval' in a situation such as this?

Do you mean you are living in the UK with a valid work permit and leave to remain?

If so, it's your joint income and ability to support you together that matters, not his income.
I am not, and cannot, offer legal advice to particular people. I can only discuss general areas of immigration law.

People should always consider obtaining professional advice about their own particular circumstances.
