Work Permit Dependant

Hi all,
I am currently in student visa which expires on July 2008. My wife is in my dependant visa. My wife's employer applied work permit for her and was successful in obtaining the work permit. I am aware that my wife has to apply for entry clearance from our home country( India). But I would like to know whether am I eligible to switch as a work permit dependant within UK or should I need to apply for entry clearance from India. I would be grateful if someone could reply me. Thank you very much.

You need to go to India for EC too.
