Eea child born in the uk - visa for entering uk?

Post by caps lock » Sun Jun 14, 2015 10:54 am

Hi
My husband EEA and I NON EEA live and work in the uk for the past 4 years, we got the baby last year. Baby is born in the uk.
Baby has got NON EEA passport.

Me and baby are outside UK now, my husband get back to work in the uk so i am wondering does baby need some kind of visa when entering back to the uk with me?

Thank you in advance

Baby may enter under 11(4). However, if baby is a visa national without an EEA family permit or EEA residence card or visa, then there may be problems boarding a plane, train or ship.

Baby should get an EEA passport.

Thank you for quick reply.

Yes we thought to obtain EEA to passport but we got stuck with NON EEA passport first and now there is no time to apply for EEA one we need to get back to the uk.
So do you suggest to apply for family permit for child in british embassy? How long does it take as we have 10 days left?
Or should I print out 11.4 section and bring with me when boarding the plane?

Probably best.

Risky, as the airline may likely refuse a visa national child to board without prior proper authorisation from a Chief Immigration Officer at the UK destination port. Contact the airline as soon as possible, not when boarding the plane.
