certificate of entitlement ROA in UK child uk born parentILR

Post by rains » Tue Jun 16, 2015 11:49 pm

Hi,

I want to check if my 6 months old child is eligible for Certificate of Entitlement (ROA application) proving his right of abode in the UK. I and my husband both have Indian passports. Our child was born in UK in Nov 2014. I got ILR in Feb 2011 and my husband got ILR in September 2014. All three of us are in UK and plan to travel to India but without a stamp on my child's indian passport, our child won't be able to return to UK with us.

We got an Indian passport for our child based on descent as we wanted to keep our child's passport same as ours.

Please can anyone confirm whether or not our child is eligible for Certificate of Entitlement ROA application for COE stamp in Indian passport or Can our child only get a British passport with Indian visa. India does not allow dual passports. If our child gets a British passport, then we will have to surrender our child's Indian passport.

Your assistance in this regard will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Yes. Child is automatically British. Child may apply for a CoE-RoA instead of a British passport.

Dear Expert & forum member,

Sorry to follow-up on old thread.
what will be the status of the child born outside UK;
At the time of birth parents were: naturalised British citizen & a ILR person.

How to obtain a Certificate of entitlement?
Also in order to obtain that- what are the steps - viz Apply for non-UK passport
register your child as British to local British embassy?

Kindly advise

Cheers
