Tips for General Visitor Visa

Post by FaysalA » Sun Jun 21, 2015 9:13 pm

My mother in law is planning to visit next month, I'm going over the online application and had some queries:

1. Visit is specifically due to my wife expecting first child, I assume this is ok to put down as reason for visit in the Family in UK section?

2. Travel Info section, intend to stay in the UK for six months, again I assume this is ok as this is her first visit to the UK and for above reason.

3. Family Details, she is travelling by herself, her husband (my father in law) is in full time employment, she also has another daughter at Uni (21+) who is unmarried and lives in their family home, I assume should not be put down as a Dependent Child nor as Non Dependent Child (as not travelling with her)?
Though I feel that her daughter should be mentioned somewhere on the application perhaps in the Additional Info section?

4. Employment and Income section, she is a "Homemaker" most appropriate working status appears to be Supported by Spouse, she does not have any external monthly income or expenditure as such, however, she does have her own savings account showing sufficient balance to fund her trip, but there is no space to enter savings, just monthly income, any suggestions?

5. I've written a letter of support, as she will be staying with us during her stay, and will I provide proof of sufficient funds from my savings account, do I need to provide proof of home ownership such as land registry title deed etc?

Any other relevant pointers do let me know, thanks.
