Are OCI cards acceptable as evidence of Indian origin?

Post by capsis » Thu Jun 25, 2015 7:09 pm

Hello,

I am an adult born in the UK and would like to apply for an OCI card on the basis of my parents who were both born in India.

Both my parents have OCI cards but do not have birth certificates or Indian passports - they furnished affidavits in their OCI applications explaining the reasons for this. The affidavits were kept HCI London when they applied.

Does anyone know if I submit my parents OCI cards as proof of their Indian origin? The UK VFS website doesn’t explicitly list OCI citizenship/cards as acceptable, although the VFS Australia VFS and CKGS USA websites do list OCI cards as acceptable evidence of Indian origin.

Thanks for any help.
