Tier 2 General to dependent; ILR eligibility

Hello,

I was recently made redundant from work. There was no way I could find an employer within 28 days who'd sponsor me. So I switched to Tier 2 Dependent with my wife as main applicant. I sent the application on 11th of June and so for I've only received the acknowledgement letter and they've taken the money. IHS is such a scam; I've been paying NI for more than 5 years!! But f**k it.

I had Tier 2 General visa valid till Aug 2016 at which time I'd be eligible for ILR after spending 5 years under Tier 2 but since I have switched to dependent does that time get reset to zero?

My wife will be eligible for ILR in Jan 2017 can she apply for ILR as main applicant and me as her dependent?

Are there any restrictions on me to work as a tier 2 general dependent? I've seen the PDF but couldn't 'decode' a yes/no answer ..

only restruiction is workign as a doctor in training.

you will not be able to apply settlement with her in 2017 when she applies as you have to be on depedent visa for 5 years before you qualify.
Alternatively, u can apply when you get to 10 years if that is going to be before 5 years from now (when u get dependent visa)
