USA to UK Visa Spouse/Family

Post by Zeusa » Thu Jul 02, 2015 12:48 am

Hi all, I have a few questions which for the life of me I can't find answers to.

I'm married to an American citizen, his family are all from the USA except his great grand parents, who were Scottish. I am a Scottish born British citizen and I'm looking to find a way to get him into the country on a visa so he can work/live here full time, or at the very least for 3 years.

I am studying to be a nurse and therefore not in full time employment so I don't meet the £18400 a year financial requirement to sponsor him, he is not a skilled worker either so we cannot go through the skilled worker route. He works in manual labour/machining when available.

Do we have any options other than waiting 3 years till I am fully qualified and working?

My Dad is an architecture teacher, and he makes well over the £18000 financial requirement to sponsor him, can my Dad sponsor my husband on a family visa?

Thank you.
R.

Do you receive a maintenance stipend/bursary, if so how much per year?

Does your family have any significant savings?
