Conversion of 457 Visa to Permanent residence

Hi All,
This is my first post to the forum. I have been offered a job by an Australian IT major and they are filing a 457 visa on my behalf.

I was wondering what could be the avenues for me to be in a position to change jobs in future as I understand that on a 457 visa you are tied to the sponser..

Are there any ways to convert the same to a work permit kind of status or applying for permanent residency (I am not interested in staying back in Australia permanently though ) and how long would any such alternatives take (tendatively of course).

I would really appriciate any inputs for these queries.

Did you get any further on this?

My understanding was that the 457 visa can last up to 4 years, and that you are indeed tied to your sponsor.

However, I believe that you can apply for permenant status after 2 years.

If anyone has had personal experience though, I love to hear as well!

I'm about to enter Ausi on 457 visa. Do you have any finding on PR?Please share your experience, it would be helpful for me
