American Au Pair

Post by nellann » Sat Jul 11, 2015 3:11 am

I'm quite certain I'll be living in America forever, because there seems to be no visa option for US citizens wanting to work in the UK as an au pair.

I have no college experience and a student visa doesn't seem plausible. I am a female, in my early twenties.

Is there anyone here who has done this and/or know someone who has? At this point, it would be most helpful to simply talk to someone who has went through the process in the past five years.

Feeling a bit overwhelmed and defeated! Any help is much appreciated.

The UK immigration system does not encourage unskilled people from outside the European Union. We have quite enough of our own (and many from the rest of the EU). I don't see an immigration route for you unless you were in a long-term relationship with a British resident. You could have up to 6 months as a vacation here (double what we get when we come to the States) - won't that do?
