Entering England or Wales from Northern Ireland.

Post by ferguston » Thu Jul 09, 2015 9:56 am

I'm a UK citizen.
I intend entering either England or Wales from Northern Ireland after landing at Dublin from Thailand.
I shall be travelling with my Thai partner who has a UK and Irish visa

My question relates to myself. I wish to ask as to what checks are made upon entering from Northern Ireland. I take it my passport will be scanned but, is access made to the National Police Computer ?

Before I was last in the UK I failed to pay Poll Tax and credit cards. I've read that such actions sometimes are regarded as fraud which is a criminal offence
If this is an inappropriate question to be asking on this forum please accept my apologies but, any advice would be appreciated.

Travelling anywhere within the Common Travel Area (essentially, the British Isles) counts as a domestic flight and your passport will likely not be checked. If it were to be, it would be a cursory check to verify that your photo and face match.

If there were scrutiny (unlikely), your Thai partner's passport would be scrutinised more than yours.
