Extending a New-zealand 2 year UK work permit

Post by JLP » Mon Jul 13, 2015 1:05 pm

hi guys
I have a very close friend. Who came into the UK on a New Zealand ( same as the Australian ) 2 year work permit visa.

She currently works

1. As a contract staff ( not permanent )

2. Works in marketing

3. Has been in the UK for a year only

She is wondering if it is possible to extend it ? And how.

She said she thinks her only option is to get a permanent position and work permit sponsorship.

I promised to do a bit of research on her behalf. So could you kindly advise on what she can/should do ???

Many thanks for your assistance

Jj

If as Wanderer suspects, it's a Tier-5 YMS visa, she can't extend or switch to any other points based visa from within the UK.

To be honest, I dont really know. But its the visa they give both aussies and kiwi's under 30. To work for 2 years in the UK.

I would confirm from her after office hours.

Options to return? She can apply from Australia for a work permit if she qualifies or a student visa if she has considerable funds for the study fees.

What if she marries a UK citizen before her visa runs out ?

Yes, under current rules, as long as she can show that the relationship is genuine and not as a means to remain in the UK. This also assumes that her and the husband would meet all the conditions required for a spouse visa.
