Going from fiancée visa to FLR(m) - lack of correspondence?

Post by imb01 » Mon Jul 20, 2015 5:58 pm

Hello,

I recently got a fiancée visa, have been reunited with my partner and am now in the UK after arriving about a month ago. We have a marriage ceremony scheduled for the beginning of August, and intend to apply for a FLR very soon afterwards.

Among the documents listed in the form is this: "Six items of correspondence addressed to you and your partner at the same address as evidence that you have been living together since your last grant of leave in this category, or from the date you first started living together up to a maximum of two years."

I came here a month ago, and we are moving to a new flat the same week as we are getting married. I will be on the tenancy agreement, and will have changed my bank address to the new place, but aside from that, that's it. We are going to try and open a joint bank account that will also be registered at this address, but it still looks like we won't be even close to getting 6 items addressed to us both (I will be added to the council tax and telephone bills, but they might not be confirmed by paperwork for a few more weeks). I'm registering with the local surgery soon, but even that will take 10-14 weeks according to the NHS to be confirmed on paper.

We've never lived together before (so no earlier bills), and given my recent arrival, I find this a little perplexing... Surely lots of other people who came here on fiancée visas are facing the same problem? Can we get away with only supplying the tenancy agreement, along with things like bank statements + telephone bills registered to the same address but sent to us separately? We are getting the premium service which presumably means we'll get the opportunity to explain in person should the question come up, but I'm concerned about losing the money for the application if we are short of documents.

Also, do I understand correctly that the financial requirements are the same as the fiancée visa? My fiancé is the director of an LLC so presumably we can use the same set of financial proof as we submitted when applying earlier.

Thank you very much for reading. Really appreciate all the time you knowledgeable folks put into your replies.

You don't need to submit 6 pieces of evidence showing co-habitation. This is for applicants who are extending after completing their first 2.5 years of limited leave. You should however, provide evidence of your marital accommodation.
Yes, the financial conditions remain the same as the fiance visa application but make sure that the most recent bank statement and pay slip is no older than 28 days before the date you submit your FLR(M) application.
Don't forget that you'll need to pay the new NHS surcharge of £500 online before submitting your FLR(M) application.

That's great news, thanks for letting me know! :-) Do you have any idea of where that might be explained in the form should we be asked any questions? Want to make sure we're ready for anything in case folks at the visa office aren't satisfied.

It won't be queried as it's not expected when switching from fiance. FLR(M), as with most UKVI forms is poorly laid out.
