IRL through Tier 2 visa and citizenship as spouse?

Post by CataP » Tue Jul 21, 2015 7:31 am

Hello,

I am planning to apply for the ILR next year in August, after working in the UK for 5 years with a Tier 2 visa. I am also getting married to my British partner this October (after two years together).

Can I apply for the ILR through my Tier 2 visa (after the 5 years) and right after that apply for the Citizenship using the married to a British citizen route? without waiting one more year for the citizenship application considering that at that point I will have an ILR, will be married to a British citizen and have lived in the UK for more than 3 years?

Is this possible or to apply for the citizenship as spouse of a British citizen I need to obtain the ILR as a spouse as well?

Thanks a lot,

CataP
