Change of Surname outside UK affect UK Visa?

Hi all,

a reply to this is much appreciated as I could not find anyone in similar situation on this forum.

I hold a work permit valid until April 2016. My wife joined me 2 years back and she too has a dependant visa valid until April 2016.

Recently we had a baby back in India, in the process of getting passport for baby, we changed the Surname of my wife and had applied for a new passport. Old passport has been returned back to us.

My question is, now that my wife will have a new passport issued with my surname in it, but UK visa holds the old Surname, can she travel to UK straight away and have it changed here? OR do we need to report this to someone in UKBA (tried this with customer guys but it was a waste of time and money).

By the time wife joins me, she would have been away for nearly 6 months from UK.

People normally change their wives surname immediate after marriage. Than that reflect on their passport and Id cards.

Now u change it after the birth of the child. Very STRANGE.

I think she will be fine. she needs to travel to UK after that inform HO and change her name on the BRP.

I want to know if anyone has ever been in this situation and travelled okay into the UK

Just to close this thread and hoping this would help someone, posting my experience, my wife was allowed to travel with both her new and old passports, no question asked by the immigration officer
