travelling to italy on an expired working holiday visa

just wondering if anyone can help.

my australian working holiday visa has expired by a few months. i wish to travel to italy from london will i get busted leaving the uk and also entering italy? do they even check passports when you leave the UK travelling within the EU?

also if i want to go to france from italy by car am i free to travel across the border without having a passport check? i went from france to spain by car and there was no border check.

Crossing the border between France and Spain is not the same as doing it between the UK and France. There are no systematic exit checks on the passports while leaving the UK, but random checks do exist. They are supposedly lesser in the smaller airports than the ones in London.

Once you are safely out of the UK, you should have no trouble entering Italy.

What does an Australian working holiday visa have to do with either Italy or the UK?
