Lebanese twice refused UK tourist visa+10yr ban+no appeal

Post by Hkm » Tue Jul 28, 2015 12:10 am

Hi everyone, my Lebanese boyfriend has just had his UK tourist visa refused for a second time this month and now they have banned him for ten years without right to appeal or admin review.

I am a UK citizen and we both live in Dubai with no intention or relocating to UK, he simply wanted to visit for less than a week to meet my family.

In his first application early July, it was declined because apparently he was denied visa in 2009 but forgot to mention this. He genuinely does not recall this or why it was refused. Interestingly he did visit the UK since then in 2011.

I called the embassy to ask what we should do. They said apply again with a cover letter explaining this mistake, he also added contact details for my UK family to vouch for him.

We are really shocked at how the second refusal letter is written saying he has been deceitful they do not believe he will leave uk him and now he is banned for 10 years with no right to appeal.

I'm devastated. we can't afford expensive immigration lawyers or lengthy appeals that cost a lot of money. I don't even think he wants to visit the UK now but we would really like this ban lifted as we fear it will be a black mark against any future travel elsewhere.

* Is there a way to get the ban lifted?
* Is there an inexpensive way that he might be able to reapply and get s visa someday (if I can persuade him the UK is worth visiting after all of this).
* is there anyone from immigration I can talk to on the phone?

Thank you in advance,
H

See also meaning of false representation.

Does he have his passport from 2009? If the UK had denied him a visa, then at the back of his passport, there should be refusal stamp or a date stamp from the Embassy with the date underlined or a cross going across it.

If there was no stamp indicating a refusal and he cannot remember their refusal, then perhaps he should ask for proof that they had previously refused him a visa in 2009?

Following Vinny's advice, is there any reason why you've re-posted your query? Has he checked his passport as suggested? :?

Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.

Hi there, sorry it wasn't meant to post twice, not sure what happened there I will try to delete the second one. I'm new to this forum (and forums in general).

I am in the process of completing a subject access request form to the home office which should provide us with full details of any immigration decisions and background so hopefully that will shed more light. It takes up to 40 days though.

When I return to Dubai I will ask him to check his passport if he still has his old one, thanks for the suggestion and response :)
