Application process

Post by bulldog70 » Tue Aug 11, 2015 9:03 am

Does anyone know how the process works?

1. What does UKBA do after receiving application, but before acknowledging or sending biometric requests?

2. Roughly how long does it take for a case to be allocated
to a caseworker?

3 I read somewhere that caseworkers target 10 applications a day, is that true?
4 Read somewhere that there are about 170 caseworkers, anyone know?
Anyone has any idea as to these questions?

In regards to your last question, it appears they now have less than 90 caseworkers. Perhaps that's why they are so absurdly slow now, even in comparison to last year, when there was the infamous passport office crisis.

Just 70 caseworkers..?! Wow.
So only 70 people looking over all naturalization applications?
This is crazy.

You could try asking a FOI question here:
https://www.whatdotheyknow.com

(there are a couple of similar questions, from last year, on that site already)

When I sent a FOI request asking for the individual stages when processing a naturalisation application.

They informed me that fee is taken, followed by ack and biometrics.

Then checks are done and once the checks are done and the application is ready for a decision, the case gets allocated to a caseworker!! so it all depends how long checks take as I'd imagine if they do a crb check on an applicant it can take 4 weeks or so!
