TIER 2 -- Dependants application

Hello,
I am working in UK in University of Brighton. The visa I have is Tier 2 General.

My own application half a year ago was fairly easy and straightforward, but now that I am filling application for my wife and three month old daughter, who stayed in Russia, there are some unclear moments, and I hope that somebody here can help me to understand the application form.

I have following questions:

1) In my wife's visa application, who should be listed as main applicant? Her or me?
Is there any official guidance that describes term "Main applicant" clearly? I couldn't find the relevant part.

2) Same for my daughter's application: is the main applicant my wife or me?

3) University agreed to provide one month of maintenance for my family, and issued me with confirmation letter (which is addressed to me), but it is not the part of my original CoS.
What should I put in "What official sponsor letter was supplied as evidence?" field? I couldn't find much information for the case when dependants apply separately, but still have maintenance confirmation from A-rated sponsor.

I would be grateful for any clarification.

1. you are main applicant and all dependents are dependents in the applicaiton form.

3. a letter from employer confirming the maintenance is enough.

I was quite unsure about "main applicant", because it could be the one to submit the document, which will be my wife.
