South Africa Visa

Post by strepsil » Thu Nov 01, 2007 6:16 am

Hi there,

Does anyone has any experience on getting South African Visa?

I need to do a work assignment there for one week, do I need to apply for a work permit or will a business vais be suffiecient?

Is the visa straightforward to get? How long does it take? Can I apply at the embassy for a same day visa like the French visa?

I hold Chinese passport, in the UK after I got married with a British national last year.

Thanks for your help.

It depends on what you are planning on doing in South Africa. What exactly does your work assignment entail?
In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.

just called the London embassy, they seems very helpful. at least they have a real person answering my queries on a 0207 number. though we still have to go through the dreaded 0906 line to book an appointmnet !!!
