EEA FP Entry Clearance to uk and return to ireland?

Post by robsters » Sat Aug 29, 2015 5:11 pm

a question i have is can you return to ireland ok on a temp stamp 4 card from the uk and what kind of entry clearance will my wife will have to go through when arriving in the uk? we plan to go by ferry from Dublin to Holyhead, bit worried about the entry clearance stuff.....plus we plan to come back in a month for the full irish residence card and forward our mail to the uk in the meantime, will there be an issue with this plan?

also if we apply for residence card in the uk will they take the passport?

Advise would be great

Kind Regards

There are normally no checks at Holyhead, but when I did it several times when I was working in Dublin, I did ferry 6 or 7 times when RyanAir pissed me off, I was checked once so you can never be 100% sure but I think it's more a police ID thing, don't think there are any customs/border people there at all.

will there be an issue returning to ireland on a Temp Stamp 4? or do i need to get her a reentry stamp before we leave so we can return to ireland later? if there was a check at holyhead will they stamp the passport or she good to stay full 6 months eu permit gives her?

Don;t really know but there are no (visible) custom controls at Holyhead as far as I could see, only police i think (not sure - looked like police) who searched my car in a half-hearted manner a couple of times but never checked passports.

I think you'll be ok but what I'm trying to say is you never know, my partner got stopped going from Derry to Donegal on a random stop not that long ago when she had BC but no brit passport, was ok 9covered by CTA) but we were told they never happened!

If I were you I'd make sure you were 100% clean depends how risk averse you are. I had risk and so in consequence never had any issues whatsoever.

but surely the family permit gives her the right to enter the uk does it not???

she has the right to return to ireland for a week then return to the uk again? all seems like a grey area makes me unsure what to do
