Naturalisation form/Self-employed/Please.. help

Post by AnaSer » Wed Sep 02, 2015 9:25 am

Hello everyone!

Please, can you help to understand the following.

I am reading a lot of information about it but still cannot figure out what would be the right and best way to do.

I am going to apply for naturalisation based on 3 years marriage.
When I came to the country I got a permanent contract of employment and was PAYE so taxes wasn’t really my headache.
In October 2014 I opened my LTD and became a co-director and at the moment I work as a Contractor through my LTD.

Up till now we have been paying VAT on a quarterly basis but not the rest and we have to do a self-assessment as well but we are planning to do it later on before January 2016 (that’s when the deadline is).

In the naturalisation form they are asking about my employment and I should tick whether I am self-employed, etc.

I understand that I should tick that I am self-employed and Director but for that they also ask for Self-Assessment State of Account which I am unlikely to have at the moment.

So.. I was wondering if I provide with the confirmation of VAT pay-outs from my business account to them + I will create a profile for self-assessment and give the print-out of it with explanation that it will be done before January 2016, would that be sufficient?

Please I would really appreciate any advice on that account.
Thank you all in advance

The guidance to form AN mentions relevant period.
Here it is:
For individuals who are self-employed / business person:
Evidence from the HM Revenue and Customs confirming payment of tax over the relevant period
Ref https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... _final.pdf

If you are saying you have not yet been trading for a year (so you have no accounts for the relevant period) then suggest explaining that in the additional/further information section of the form.
(And yes provide whatever evidence of trading & any provisional accounts that you may have - that may help too).
All that is gold does not glitter; Not all those who wander are lost. E&OE.

Hello! thank you for the response.
I was thinking of providing with P60 form from the type when I was employee and my company paid taxes for me and because self-assessment for my LTD will be done later I will show them that I paid for VAT during all this time while being with a ltd.

Again, thank you for the advice and clarification!
