Start date on COS

My husband is a doctor applying for tier 2 general visa from india. His first visa application was rejected because of an oversight in the COS regarding income . He is reapplying for a visa with a new COS. The start date on the COS is for 6th Aug 2015
My questions.
1.is it ok if he applies for visa on the 18th or does the start date on the COS need to be altered
.2.due to the delay with the prev application rejection his duration of contract will be from 6th aug2015 to 2nd Aug 2016. Will that affect his application since he is applying mid Aug.
We are desperate. Please help

The start date on the CoS will need to be changed before applying for visa, but this can easily be done by the employer using sponsor notes.
Best to get the contract dates changed too accordingly.

Choose a "realistic" employment start date. It takes time to process visa applications.
