Uncle living here since 1964

Post by sonofjam » Tue Sep 08, 2015 5:10 pm

My uncle has been living here since 1964, and in his old passport he has a stamp that says he is joining his father in the UK. He has never held another Jamaican passport, nor has be applied to become a British citizen.

He wants to travel abroad, so would he have to apply for indefinite or would he just need to apply for citizenship? Need your advice so that I can help him sort it out.

Think he might have to apply under the 20 year provision, assuming he cannot prove he has indefinite leave, under FLR(O) I think, Private Life route;

1. 25 or over and you’ve been in the UK continuously for 20 years

It's a 10 year route to ILR.
