Tier 2 ICT validity requirements for Schengen visa

Hi,

I am an Indian national residing in the UK with a Tier 2 visa valid to remain in the UK until September 2016.
Can someone please help me with the below questions?

Can I apply for a schengen visa in the last 6 months of my stay in the UK? What is the maximum duration for which I will get the visa if I apply for the visa just 6 months before my UK visa end date i.e. say Feb 2015

If I already had a schengen visa which is expired, is there any cool off period before which I can apply for the next schengen visa?
