Dear All,
I have got a job offer and my employer is applying for restricted COS. The work would include visits to Europe for collaboration/meetings with major work in the UK. Though the description seems straightforward in the Tier 2 guidance document but I am confused by two explanations of the Multiple CoS by different UK employers
Extract from Tier 2 Guidance Document
If you need to leave and re-enter the UK on a regular basis you may be assigned with a multiple entry Certificate of Sponsorship.
There is no difference in the conditions of a multiple entry Certificate of Sponsorship. This type of certificate is not needed for holidays or business trips overseas. It merely confirms that your sponsor expects you to regularly travel in and out of the UK.
First explanation is
Is a multiple-entry visa required?
Answer ‘Yes’ if the employee will be based outside the UK for work. Answer ‘No’ if the employee will live and work in the UK & occasionally travel out of the UK for leisure, domestic or work purposes.
Another explanation is
Does the migrant require multiple entry to the UK for work purposes?
Migrants who will be required to travel overseas for work purposes (such as to attend conferences or conduct fieldwork) will require a multiple entry visa. Migrants who will only travel overseas for domestic and leisure purposes do not require a multiple entry visa.
Could you please help that what is the exact purpose for a Multiple CoS? Furthermore, would it affect continuous residence requirement for ILR in future?
Shall I ask my employer to apply for a multiple entry CoS?
I appreciate your help.
