Is it just me or does it look like the Sept timeline shows a slow-down in HO handling?
They used to cover the receipt to biometrics in 1-2 weeks from submission - now it takes 2 weeks just to send out acknowledgement?

yes, I agree. I am also a bit concerned because I saw here that some people sent their application later or the same time as me but they have already received a letter re biometrics..
I am still waiting for mine.

From what i noticed it tends to be a 2 week time frame from submission till they pick up the app and send out letters and take money
After they take the £££ it's normally 3 days before they send out a biometric enrolment letter
so will see

Ravikd, the same thing happened to me. I applied a couple days before you and I received my acknowledgement, but never received the biometrics letter. I finally emailed them and recieved the biometrics letter a few days later, though they never wrote back. I suggest you email as well to this address:
