Applying for UK Rights

Hi,

I would like some advise or pointers regards applying for rights to the UK (not too sure whether ancestory is the correct term).

Here is my story:
My Dad was born in the UK in 1927. He was in th UK for the majority of his life. He then moved to Rhodesia. My mother was a Rhodesian citizen. They had me but due to the laws of the land they never got married. He is late now.
I have the following documents:
My Birth Certificate - both parents on it.
My Dad's Birth and death certificate.
Older step brothers willing to vouch for my parentage as I have no marriage certificate.

With tha above what is the best avenue to take and where should I start looking?

You have two choices.
1)Depeneding on when you where born I see no reason why you can't claim BC via decent from your Dad-- failing that!
2) You could apply for ancestral visa from your Dads side, this is of course assuming that your Dad's parents where British and born in the UK.

1. As parents never got married, he can't claim British citizenship. Sorry.

2. Ancestry Visa is still a possibility, if he has a Zimbabwe or South African passport.

So only with a marriage certificate does one qualify for British Citizenship? Have a Zimbabwean passport at the moment.

Sorry my mistake, I did'nt read your entire post.
JAJ is correct if your Mum & Dad where not married,so you want by able to apply for BC via your Dad.

So your best bet now is the Ancestral visa route, which should work for you.

1)You must be a Commonwealth citizen over the age of 18

2)You must be able to prove one Grand Parent was British and British born, I geuss your Dads, Dad or Mum should fit the bill.You will need all the Birth certs to prove the link.

3) You must also prove that once in the UK you can sustain yourself, without any UK Gov hand out.

4) A written job offer should do the trick.
