marriage to a eu citizen - wanting to live in the uk(non eu)

Post by tabitha678 » Mon Nov 12, 2007 3:15 pm

Hi,

My fiance and I are planning to get married later next year! We are thinking of living in the UK. I am Australian and he is French. Is it possible for us both to live and work in the UK. If so, what are the procedures?

Many thanks.

See Vinny's post here and follow the links he provided: http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewto ... hlight=eea once married, you need to apply for an EEA family permit. Your EEA national spouse needs to be exercising treaty rights in order for you to live in the UK together (treaty rights typically involve studying, working, or seeking employment in the UK, or self-sufficiency).

Once you've followed the links, do a search function on this site for "EEA AND Family Permit" and see what comes up to help you further understand.

Other important questions: Where are you currently based? Has your partner lived in the UK before? Have you lived in the UK before?
