Tier 2 General: working from home

Post by VirtualWaver » Wed Sep 23, 2015 4:30 pm

Hi All,

My employer said they might need me to work from home permanently because our client company has offices in different countries and they need me to provide support from home during early hours.

Can any of you confirm this is ok and legal with UKBA and if it is ok how we need to notify them about this? Should my employer just change my work address to my home address in SMS or there is another procedure to follow / report? Didn't find anything in policy guidance regarding this.

Will highly appreciate your replies as this is something urgent. Thanks a million for this!

I've read the guidance, but I have never seen anything mentioning that you can't work from home neither work in flexible hours.

You can ask the employer to put a description in the note section about this. I don't see this a big deal.

It's already a fact, what can you do about it?

Thanks, yeah that's why it's confusing because it doesn't say it clearly. I can swear I was reading this somewhere that it was saying that sponsor must report if migrant's location of work will be change but it's still not clear if working from home (especially on shift basis) is the same as change of location.

Don't really want to have problems for such a minor thing! UKBA already visited our head office last year to chat with HR, don't want them to come to our branch and discover I am not there.

Does anyone else know please?

your sponsor can report the change of your work address online via the SMS

Hi manci,

Thanks a lot for this.

1. If i work from home all the time they need to put my home address as my work address in SMS. Is this correct? Do they need to do anything else or only this?
2. What if I work 2 days in the office and 3 days from home?

Thanks!

Your sponsor can explain your work pattern in the SMS either way.
