EU Travel for UK Residence Permit (Spouse/Partner) Holders

Post by abysussex » Wed Sep 30, 2015 2:58 pm

HI,

My partner has just been granted her UK Residence Permit to stay for 30 months and 28 days under the 5 year partner route. She is an Indian Citizen and wondered if she still required Visas to go to European countries?

We have not been able to travel with ease to the continent as she had to obtain a Schengen Visa everytime.

Does she still require a Visa to enter European countries?

Thanks

Aby

The answer to your question.......

EEA family member Residence Card holder (Part 1): This only applies to you if

you are a family-member of an EEA-citizen AND
legally living inside the EU but outside Schengen (=UK, Ireland, Bulgaria, Romania and Cyprus)
AND
You have been given a "Residence card of a family member of a Union citizen"

In this case you are legally entitled to travel to all of the EEA (not Switzerland :!: ), as long as your partner travels with you, or you "join the partner".

Reading your previous posts, it appears that your wife doesn't hold a Residence Permit, You applied for a FLR(M) spouse visa, which means she will have to apply for a Schengen visa if she want to travel within the EU Schengen zone and she will continue to need a visa until she is granted British citizenship.
