Working abroad on a Fiance visa

Post by Jim » Wed Nov 14, 2007 2:13 am

Hi,

Is it possible to enter the UK on a Fiance visa to get it stamped on first arrival and then leave a few weeks later to work for 4 weeks outside of the EU before returning to the UK to get married and reside?

The visa rules simply state "291. A person seeking leave to enter the United Kingdom as a fiancé(e) or proposed civil partner may be admitted, with a prohibition on employment, for a period not exceeding 6 months to enable the marriage to take place provided a valid United Kingdom entry clearance for entry in this capacity is produced to the Immigration Officer on arrival."

Does this prohibition just refer to the UK? The visa itself is multiple entry.

We are talking about a single 4 week period of foreign employment.

Thanks a lot.

Jim
