tier 2 visa , cooling off , ILR route

Hi

I am in tier 2 visa for about 2 years , my leave has been curtailed as contract has ended. I have either to apply for further leave to remain or to leave UK before the time given in the home office letter. I may be able to get a new sponsor after the time given in this letter but the salary won't be 150k anyway.
my questions are:
how to avoid cooling off period by all means possible?
if cooling off period applied to the case, ma I still allowed to get ILR through the tier 2 visa? ( although cooling off period will keep me away from UK more than 160 days/ year, in addition I think UK gives 5.5 or 6 years tier 2 visa as maximum and I already consumed 2 years)

The whole point of the 12 month cooling off period is to reset the clock for ILR.

Get a new sponsor, transfer to another visa category that you qualify for or leave the UK. Those are your options.

Is it possible to get ILR through tier 2 after the cooling off period and get tier 2 visa? Will they count the 5 -6 years maximum tier 2 visa from the zero line ? Or the 2 years will still be deducted from the maximum ?

The rule about max 6 years is that after which you would have to serve a 12 month cooling off period if you can't meet the conditions for ILR. So no, the 2 years before the 12 month cooling off wouldn't contribute to the 6 year limit.

That means after the cooling off period if the individual get tier 2 visa , he still has his 6 years ?
