IHS - Health Care Surcharge issue

Post by dude_123 » Sun Oct 25, 2015 5:15 pm

Hi

I am applying for my wife dependent visa for settlement from India based on my ILR.

whilst making her application on line on VISA4UK Site, there is an ask to pay for surcharge and when i entered her details and then it has asked me for my IHS reference number , since i dont have such number (never knew) , they have asked to fill me the details of the person to she is going to join/stay with, so when i entered my details (passport number , visa expiry as show on BRP car valid -10 years) , it then asking me to pay for about 2 Lakh rupee as surcharge. i am confused now.

i thought ISH Surcharge would be £600 but it is asking for big amount

can you please help me out to clarify this doubt.

do i need to select different option or is there recent change in IHS payment ?

appreciate your urgent response

The IHS surcharge is £200 per year. So, if you apply for a 10 year visa, you would be charged £2000.

But as there is no 10 year visa available, you would want to specify which visa you are applying for her. As you are on ILR, it would be family of a settled person visa, initially for 2.5 years with an applicable IHS of £600.

You can get your IHS number here. Remember that you may need an IHS number even if you are exempt from making a payment.

Thanks for prompt response.

I am applying for her visa for initial 2.5 years only as my dependant from India. i am having ILR in UK.

are you saying that i will also need to get my IHS reference number even though i hold ILR , in order to mention that reference number into her application at the time of making her surcharge payment ?

if that's the case, I have registered my self to IHS Service , but there it is asking me to mention my visa route and visa type , which don't have any options to select for My current status- ILR. it only shows PBS,Tiers category.

Are you applying from within the UK?
Yes - if i select No, it says it got to pay it through visa4uk site.

Are you applying to stay in the Isle of Man, Jersey or Guernsey?
No

then visa status details for me.

thanks,
chandra
