EEA Family Permit effective date

I am concerned about what arrival date to put on the application, because I am unsure what immigration will put as the effective date on my document. Presently, it is November and I am aiming for a mid February arrival. Does anyone have any insight on this? Do I need to adjust my travel plans?

Processing time for a FP is supposed to be short, e.g., a couple of weeks. The date you specify on your application is the effective date that appears on the FP. If you apply now and put a date of early February you *should* be okay but if that time comes and goes and you still do not have the FP then there's no recourse available. So, you should either not book travel until you receive the FP or you should make fully-refundable plans.
