Non-EU Relocation from Ireland to Spain

Post by Narmer » Thu Nov 05, 2015 2:03 pm

Dear All,

i am a Non-EU citizen currently living in Ireland for a period of 4 years. i moved to Ireland on a Green Card scheme as a highly qualified worker and currently i am a holder of Stamp 4 which basically allows me to work in a more flexible way in the state without the need to hold a work permit.

I am now considering to move to Spain for a job opportunity which will allow me to apply for a Blue Card. My question is whether my years of long term residency in Ireland will be counted in Spain if i decide later to apply for a long term residency in Spain or not? i read somewhere that when moving between EU countries my years of Long term residency can be counted in my destination country, however i am not quite sure if that rule applies for Ireland as well or not, for instance Ireland have their own Green Card scheme which is somehow different from the Blue Card Scheme which is currently applied within 24 out of the 27 EU countries,

Appreciate your kind feedback,

BRs
