Applying for Tier 2 Extension

Post by zee350 » Sun Nov 01, 2015 4:48 pm

Hi everyone,

I am working with my company for last 2.5 years. My Tier 2 (General) visa is going to expire in April 2016 and i am going to apply for my Tier 2 extension in a few months. I have few questions to ask before i start my procedure.

1. My current SOC code is "2132 - Graduate IT Developer" which is not now available on SOC list and my current company is now offering me "Web Design and developer" position which has SOC Code 2137 but also offer much high salary for this position as mention in this document (https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... l_2015.pdf). Should i change my SOC code when i am going for extension?

2. Should my company has to get new COS for this "Web Design and developer" position and RMLT for this position?

3. Do they need to tell Home Office about my new SOC Code and new salary?

3. How many months before should i apply for extension?

4. Should my Spouse (currently living with me) also need to apply with me or i need to apply first?

I will be glad to know the answers and i will appreciate your time too.

Thanks,
Zee

1. The old SOC code of 2132 got divided into 3 SOC codes - 2135, 2136 & 2139. Your company can use any of these new codes for extension CoS without doing RLMT. If they decide to assign any other SOC code, it will be treated as a switch and they will have to conduct RLMT. The breakup of SOC codes is mentioned in the same document you listed. Page 22 onwards.

2. See above.

3. They will have to mention the details when they assign the CoS to you.

4. You can apply anytime you want to provided your organisation has assigned you the CoS. Note the CoS once assigned, is valid for 3 months and you cannot apply 3 months before the CoS start date.

5. You can apply first the the dependent's visa later. However, it should happen before their current visa expires.

Thanks moonlight55 for your response. I checked your other responses in this forum and it also helped me. One last question. 2137 SOC code is more close to my new proposed job title, offer by my current employer, my company still need RLMT for this?

i am getting this promotion within the same company and my new job description and title is very close to 2137 soc job description and job title...

Answer of this question will complete my enquiry and i will therefore proceed with my case.

Thanks alot,
Zee

I mean a new separate application for each of the dependent.
