PR application for EU national-5 years of continuous period

Hi guys

I am intending to apply for my PR certificate soon but I am getting really confused about the ' five years of continuous period' and your advice would be very much appreciated!

By way of background, I am an EU national and have lived in the UK for over 10 years now. I studied from 2005 to 2010 then was employed from 2010 to 2015.

My questions are:

1. During my period of study (2005 to 2010), I never had a comprehensive cover insurance, which I understand is a requirement to have a qualified status in the UK. Does it mean that this period is more likely to be disregarded?

2. Following my study, I worked for 5 years in the UK. My start date is 23 August 2010 and end date 14 August 2015. As you will note, this does not make a 'full' 5 years, leaving 9 days gap between the two dates. Could this be an issue or would the Home Office will consider the month only?

3. Does 5 years of continuous period means 5 years counting backward from today or the application date (10 November 2010 to 10 November 2015)? Or could I submit any 5 years in the UK (August 2010 to August 2015)?

4. As previously said, I stopped working from August 2015 but got a fixed term contract for a month in September 15. If the 5 years of continuous period means 5 years counting backward from today or the application date, does this mean that my '5 years of continuous period' has been broken as I stopped working from mid August to September 15 (i.e. start of the fixed term contract)?

5. I am now back to being a student again since October 2015 but do not have any comprehensive cover insurance. If the 5 years of continuous period means 5 years counting backward from today, does it mean that I would have broken the chain of '5 years of continuous period' as I do not have any insurance?

6. If I were to get a comprehensive cover insurance starting from today, does it still mean that I would have broken the continuous period as I was not covered since I left my last work in October 2015 to today?

1.) Unless you had a non-UK EHIC or were issued with a registration certificate as a student before 20 June 2011, this will not count towards PR.

2.) What did you do in the last 9 days? Any chance you could claim to have been a job seeker? Or were you maybe out of the UK (and thus not required to exercise treaty rights)?

3.) Any continuous 5 year period can be used.

6.) Unfortunately, CSI cannot be backdated.

Are you a national of an A8 country?
if so did you register for WRS when working for the period up to/including 2011?

Thank you so much for this - very helpful.

I was indeed looking for other jobs during the last 9 days. However, as I was already registered to a recruitment agency a long time ago, I do not have any specific evidence to prove that I was looking for a job during those specific 9 days (and I am not registered with Jobcentre Plus etc). Though I got an interview in September and worked for a month.

Do you think this could be a sufficient evidence?

I think you will be fine as long as you have proof like a payslip for the month of August 2015.you don't have to tell home office that you were jobless. Besides, you are registered with agency during that period.
