Unmarried partner's visa query

Post by itai » Wed Nov 21, 2007 1:46 am

hi there , i came to the to the uk in 2006 on a student visa and late last year i fell in love with a brit citizen and we're expecting our first child in June next year. My student visa expires in 2009 and at this point in time i have not lived with my partner at all but we intend to and we both agreed that marriage is not for us.
My question is how do i obtain a status that will enable me to be with my partner and take care of our baby without having to renew my visa after set periods of time.

Thank you

Once you have lived together for two years you can apply as unmarried partners. So, if you move in together now, by the time your student visa is about to expire, will it be two years? If not, you'll need to look at another visa, like IGS (if it still exists).
