Urgent travel on old passport

Post by arnie365 » Tue Nov 17, 2015 12:08 pm

Hi,
I and my wife have got our ILRs on Indian Passports.
Our daughter born here too has an Indian Passport, but on Tier 1 dependent visa (expired now).

We have applied for her British Passport, but have to travel to India on a urgency this month.
Could she travel with her mother on her Indian passport, but now expired Tier 1 visa?

And if so, could my daughter then travel back with her British passport (which I will wait for its arrival by post and then carry it later to India)?
rgds,
Arnie

Flying out of UK without a valid leave to enter / remain isn't the problem, so travelling "to India" shouldn't be a problem.
Do note that one is allowed to use an Indian passport for travel without incurring a financial penalty only for 3 months from the date of acquiring foreign citizenship.

Travelling to UK on a British passport from India will, in all likelihood, require the child to have an exit visa issued by the FRRO or OCI, else the Indian immigration desk / airlines may not let the child through immigration control / board the flight.
Life isn't fair, but you can be!
