Tier 2 Extension - How early can I apply

Hi,

I m currently on Tier 2 General Visa. It expires in Aug 2016.
How early can I apply for Tier 2 extension. I want to apply early as there might be management change.

I called UKBA helpline and they said I can apply only 28 days before visa expiry. I doubt this.

Can I submit the application this month ? Can anyone clarify please ?

You can apply anytime as long as you have a valid COS and satisfy other requirements.
